For the second time in three seasons, the Iowa State men’s basketball team will advance to the Sweet 16.
The fourth-seeded Cyclones beat No. 12 Arkansas-Little Rock, 78-61, in the second round of the 2016 NCAA tournament on Saturday evening at the Pepsi Center in Denver.
ISU (23-11) advances to the Midwest Regional semifinals, where it’ll face the winner of No. 1 Virginia and No. 9 Butler. The Cyclones used a series of runs in the first half to lead 40-28 at halftime. They led by as many as 20 in the second half, holding the Trojans (30-5) at bay.
