The Iowa State men’s basketball team will begin play in arguably the nation’s toughest conference against one of the country’s top teams, featuring maybe the sport’s best player, on the road.
No. 11 Iowa State. No. 3 Oklahoma. Today at 6 p.m.
“A heavyweight fight against two good teams,” ISU’s Jameel McKay said, “who (have) Big 12 championship aspirations and wanting to get off to the right start.”
It’s an absolute monster game for the Cyclones (11-1) to open the Big 12 season with the Sooners undefeated at 11-0 and with perhaps the early frontrunner for national player of the year, Buddy Hield, playing at a scintillating level.
