KANSAS CTIY, Mo. – The name is on everyone’s lips and the streak is on everyone’s mind. Another year and the Kansas men’s basketball team’s streak of regular season Big 12 titles remains intact. Eleven years, eleven championships.
“That’s an amazing feat,” new Iowa State coach Steve Prohm said. “It’s probably one of the best feats in college basketball.”
The Cyclones had perhaps their best chance to eliminate the streak or at least earn a share of the title last season, when they finished a game behind the Jayhawks during league play. ISU was done in, however, by a number of defeats the Cyclones, simply shouldn’t have taken, starting with road losses Texas Tech and Kansas State along with a home loss to Baylor to end a 21-game winning streak at Hilton Coliseum.
