Iowa State senior Deonte Burton is among the early entrant pool for this year’s NBA draft, but it’s an exploratory option as he will not hire an agent, he told the Ames Tribune on Tuesday evening.
“Just to see what I need to work on,” Burton said, “just to get another perspective on my flaws and what I need to do to become a better basketball player, what I need to focus on for this upcoming year.”
Burton, as well as also-declared incoming ISU recruit Emmanuel Malou, has the benefit of new NCAA legislation that allows players to declare for the draft, work out for NBA teams and attend the combine but still return to school if they do not hire an agent and make the decision by May 25.
