Paul Rhoads hosted a recruit and his mom at his house over the weekend. The conversation turned to the upcoming schedule. The recruit wanted to know what team Iowa State faced next.

Rhoads said, No. 2 Baylor. Without skipping a beat, the recruit told him best of luck.

“I felt I needed it when he said it,” Rhoads said.

Preparing for the Bears, who the Cyclones face on Saturday (11 a.m., ESPN), can be akin to a child staring at an playroom full of toys needing to be put away. It only feels like a miracle is needed to complete the task.
