DUBUQUE – Three high school football players stood in a circle. They were killing time and chatting before the Iowa State football showcase began.

One said he just wanted to have a good day. Another nodded his head. The third added that one strong drill could impress a coach.

This scene, before anyone ran a 40-yard dash time or had that chance to make a lasting impressing with the Cyclone staff, sums up why satellite camps shouldn’t be the controversy Nick Saban makes them out to be.

“Kids get a chance to show what they can do,” ISU tight ends coach/recruiting coordinator Alex Golesh said.
