KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The worst moment of Iowa State’s Big 12 tournament didn’t involve Buddy Hield.
The 39 points he dropped on the Cyclones became an afterthought upon viewing Cyclone point guard Monte Morris, head down and distraught. Morris was in the midst of some heavy soul searching over his play in ISU’s 79-76 loss.
Outside of an injury to Georges Niang this is as bad as it could get for the Cyclones. The right shoulder injury was a concern this week, but Morris’ funk goes beyond that. If Morris doesn’t get right before the big dance it will be impossible for ISU to get to the second weekend of the NCAA tournament.
