ISU splits to finish Cavalier Classic
The Iowa State volleyball team wrapped up competition at the Fairfield Inn &Suites Cavalier Classic on Saturday with a 1-1 record.
The Cyclones beat VCU 3-0 (25-21, 25-14, 25-16) in their first match of the day. ISU recorded 10 service aces, the first time it posted double figure aces in a sweep since 2008. Jess Schaben led the team with nine kills. Grace Lazard added eight more, a career-high.
ISU fell later in the day to Virginia, 3-2. The Cavaliers went up 2-0 before the Cyclones came back to force a fifth set.
