Iowa State was down 20-0 at one point and came back to take the lead, but lost to Baylor in Waco, 23-21.
Both teams started out sluggish, neither team scored in the first quarter. Iowa State combined for seven punts in the first, Iowa State missed two field goals while Baylor missed one, and Iowa State turned it over once.
Baylor scored a touchdown on a completion from Charlie Brewer to Denzel Mims with 58 seconds remaining in the half. Connor Assalley followed that up with Iowa State’s second missed kicked on the day to send Iowa State into the locker room trailing 7-0.
