Iowa State took the floor in the annual CyHawk basketball game on Friday night. After falling behind 13-2 early, Javan Johnson got hot and pushed Iowa State back into the game. Tyler Harris hit back-to-back 3s and at the under 8 media timeout in the first half, the young Cyclones held a 32-29 lead. Unfortunately, things unraveled from that point, as the opponent went on a run of their own to take an 11 point lead at halftime. Xavier Foster played some early minutes and flashed some potential, hitting a 3 and being aggressive on the offensive glass.
In the second half, the other team adjusted to playing a zone defense, and Iowa State’s hero ball couldn’t keep up, as the shots quit falling and they quickly fell behind by an insurmountable margin.
