For the second week in a row Iowa State had a lead late in the third quarter and came away with a loss. Iowa State was up 31-14 only to watch Oklahoma State score 24 unanswered points and come away with a 38-31 victory over the Cyclones.
Iowa State’s offense stagnated, and a Carson Epps fumble turned the tide in the Cowboys favor for good. Oklahoma State took a 38-31 lead on a pass from Rudolph to Washington with 3:40 left in the game, which sealed the win for the Cowboys.
Iowa State started off strong and were even imposing their will coming into the third quarter.
