Well, that one stung. At least 3 times during the game, I thought it was all over. Yet, each time, it wasn’t. That’s what made this edition of the Cy-Hawk series so good. Like the outcome or not, we can all agree that today’s game was an instant classic.

After a picture-perfect start to the game, including a spectacular catch in the endzone by Allen Lazard to put the Cyclones up 7-0, the Hawks found the endzone twice more before the end of the half through a pair of Nathan Stanley TD passes. Iowa’s vaunted running was largely contained throughout the first half, but the defense eventually started looking tired and gave up some decent gains on off-tackle and stretch running plays.
