Iowa State expecting to allow 25,000 fans at first home game

In an email to donors and fans this morning, Iowa State announced that it would be allowing 25,000 fans at the first home game, which tickets being moved around to take advantage of greater social distancing.

Of note, it does leave open the possibility that if things don’t go as planned for the first game and their mitigation efforts are not successful, then fans will not be allowed at the second home game against Oklahoma on Oct. 3.

This decision comes amid spiking case numbers in both Ames and Iowa City, as they have risen to the very top of the country in terms of new cases per capita, though those numbers are expected to improve as the fall goes on.
