The first USA Today Coaches Poll of the year is out, and Iowa State came in 8th, easily the highest preseason ranking in program history.
Oklahoma at #3 is the only higher-ranked Big 12 team. Texas at #19 and Oklahoma State at #22 round out the Big 12’s representation in the poll.
As of right now, CyHawk projects to be a top-20 matchup (not top-15 like many had originally projected), and will probably be the most important matchup in series history.
The preseason AP Poll is due out in a couple weeks, so we’ll see where Iowa State’s “official” ranking ends up.
