Hines Column: Next year will begin to define Prohm’s program

The 2015-16 season of Iowa State men’s basketball was one of transition and compromise.

With a late entry into the fold, an experience-heavy roster and a high-level expectations, first-year Cyclone men’s basketball coach Steve Prohm had to tread softly and slowly. He had to earn trust and respect in order to make changes and tweaks. This past season, which ended with a Sweet 16 loss to No. 1 seed Virginia on Friday, belonged more to Georges Niang, Abdel Nader, Jameel McKay, Monte Morris and Matt Thomas than it did Prohm. After coming from Murray State in June to replace Fred Hoiberg, Prohm’s role was to facilitate success, not create it.
