Meaghan Sievers was a bit of a late bloomer as a gymnast.
“She was flying under the radar for a little while,” Iowa State coach Jay Ronayne said.
No longer, though, as last week she became just the third Cyclone freshman to qualify to the NCAA national championships.
“She’s something special,” Ronayne said. “She’ll completely appreciate the gravity of it after we return from the national championship but for right now she’s doing her best and feels like she has a shot at possibly being an All-American and possibly even being a national champion.”
Sievers, who qualified with a vault score of 9.
