Former Iowa State golfer Scott Fernandez shot an 80 on Friday and missed the cut at the British Open. Fernandez was 10-over par, carding a 152, during the first two rounds at the Royal Troon Golf Club in Scotland.
The cutline was 4-over par. The top 70 players, and ties, moved on to play the final 36 holes over the weekend.
Fernandez, who now primarily plays professionally in Europe, set a series of records during his time at ISU, including four career wins and career stroke average of 72.09.
He also earned All-America second-team honors with the Cyclones.
