Football: What will it take to stand out at ISU’s camps?

Logan Woodside was yet to throw for 2,951 yards and 41 touchdowns. He was an unknown commodity when he attended an Ohio State camp in 2012.

Then he starting flinging a football around. The Toledo coaches in attendance took notice of the Kentucky high school quarterback.

The Rockets got him up to campus a week later and secured a commitment that summer. Woodside, who is expected to start for Toledo this season, was the blueprint for the kind of player Matt Campbell wanted to land from camps.

With Campbell and his first-year Iowa State staff embarking on their annual go-around with camps — the Cyclones were in Chicago for one on Tuesday — they’re out to locate a few more Woodside’s.
