In a game where both teams seemed to have the answer for the other, the Iowa State football team ran out of solutions.
Iowa defeated ISU, 31-17, on the strength of two touchdowns in the final 2 minutes, 14 seconds and a defense that confounded the Cyclones throughout the second half.
With the score deadlocked at 17 through most of the second half, Iowa got a big punt return from Desmond King out to midfield. Seven plays later, Iowa quarterback C.J. Beatherd found Riley McCarron in the back of the end zone for a tiebreaking 25-yard touchdown pass.
