The Iowa State-Toledo history suggested this might happen. That it would happen. The Cyclones and the Rockets, coming down to waning moments, just as it had the last three times these teams met.
The Cyclones won the inaugural meeting in triple overtime, 45-43, in 2006. The very next year, Toledo won, 36-35, on a fumble-recovery score. Last year’s 37-30 ISU win came after Sam Richardson hit Allen Lazard for a 14-yard touchdown with less than four minutes remaining.
So, of course, Saturday night’s game went into two overtimes, and it was there that Toledo won, 30-23, thanks to 10-yard touchdown run by Damion Jones-Moore.
