Iowa State reserve tight end Scotty Schaffner plans to leave the program. He will do so after the spring semester ends, according to sources.
The 6-foot-4, 236-pound redshirt sophomore was part of the 2014 recruiting class, but never saw the field. He redshirted in 2014 and was a squad member last season.
Playing time at tight end is wide open heading into the 2016 season with the graduation of Ben Boesen. Schaffner ended last season third on the depth chart at tight end.
