Iowa State wide receiver Trever Ryen was named to the Paul Hornung Award watch list on Friday. The award goes to the most versatile player in the nation.
Ryen, who is transitioning from running back to wide receiver this season, also returns kicks. He had 16 carries for 71 yards and 18 receptions for 181 yards last season. He also averaged 15.5 yards per punt return and 17.9 yards per kickoff return. He scored an 81-yard touchdown on a punt return against Northern Iowa last season.
He was put on scholarship last September and is expected to see his role increase this season with the offense.
