Football: Notebook - Ayeni impressed with Croney’s start to spring practice

Lou Ayeni spent part of Tuesday morning rattling off updates about each of his running backs. He said Mike Warren is more of a leader now. He said Mitch Harger is doing an outstanding job.

When Ayeni, the Iowa State running backs coach, finally got around to talking about Sheldon Croney, he said he’s been a surprise.

“We didn’t know what to expect with Sheldon,” Ayeni said, “but he’s been pretty good, even though he’s still working through the kinks with his hand and seeing how he’s going to develop.”

Croney suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his left hand last May.
