Before the Big Monday matchup of #19 Iowa State (12-5 in the Big 12) and Kansas (2-15), both Coach Fennelly and Bridget Carleton were honored for 500 coaching wins and scoring more than 2,000 points in her collegiate career.
Following Iowa State’s control of the tip, Alexa Middleton got a layup 14 seconds into the game. Kansas would go on a 6-0 run and Iowa State wouldn’t make a shot until 6:59 remaining in the quarter thanks to Maddie Wise.
The rest of the opening quarter would go back and forth with points and Kansas would eventually lead 18 to 17 after one.
