The rivalry game predates the Heartland Trophy, going back to 1894. The Heartland Trophy was first introduced in 2004, and the two teams have played for the coveted 72-pound bronze bull ever since.
Wisconsin holds a slight edge in the all-time series with a 49-47-2 record, but Iowa has the longest winning streak in the series with 10 (1985 to 1996), and has won three straight, and four of the last five games.
