Unproven quarterback Spencer Petras is the heavy favorite to be the starter when the Iowa football team finally takes the field in 2020. With Nathan Stanley graduated and drafted to the Minnesota Vikings, all eyes turn to the redshirt-sophomore Spencer Petras.
Spencer Petras attended Marin Catholic Highschool in Kentfield, California. Marin Catholic has been a breeding ground for successful quarterbacks, with the best example of this being Rams starting quarterback Jared Goff who went onto have a successful career at the University of California before becoming the first overall pick in the 2016 draft.
