Iowa Football: Hawkeye Receiver Ihmir Smith-Marsette Arrested on OWI

A bad weekend for Iowa football is trending worse. Following a second straight disappointing loss for the Hawkeyes on Saturday, star WR and kick returner Ihmir Smith-Marsette was arrested late Saturday night/early Sunday morning.

According to KCJJ, Smith-Marsette was pulled over on Riverside Drive in Iowa City at 1:30 am Sunday (it’s unclear if that’s pre- or post-time change for daylight savings) for driving 74 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone.

Upon being pulled over Smith-Marsette reportedly displayed multiple signs of intoxication (which typhus code for “was driving in Iowa City at 1:30 am”, but in this case likely also includes “was doing something really dumb like driving 40 mph over the limit at 1:30 am”) and showed signs of inebriation upon a field sobriety test.
