I have to admit that I’m a newer Hawkeye fan. I did not grow up in Iowa, so it wasn’t until 1999 when I knew I would be attending Iowa, that I became a fan of Iowa football.
When I started college in 2001, Iowa football went through a renaissance of success that has not been duplicated since.
As a newer fan, I was spoiled. In 2002, Iowa won the Big Ten and truly looked like one of the best teams in the country.
Yes, I remember the Orange Bowl against USC, but when you look at the Trojan roster and recognize that the loss still wasn’t as bad as the 2016 Rose Bowl, you have to appreciate where Iowa football was then.
