Yes, anything that has already happened could be considered the “past”, but this is my way of making fun of the arguments constantly had between the Iowa football fans and the Nebraska football fans.
Nebraska likes to hold their national titles and their decade (the 90s) of dominance over the Iowa football fans’ heads, while the Hawkeye fans like to tote on about the past decade that Nebraska has been in the Big Ten.
Then the following argument ensues. Iowa fans tell Nebraska to stop living in the past while Nebraska fans make the argument that anything that has previously happened is the past is fair game and Nebraska beats out the Hawks every time.
