Iowa Baseball Right-Handed Pitcher Brady Schanuel Selected by Milwaukee Brewers in 27th Round

In the 27th Round of the MLB Amateur Draft, the Milwaukee Brewers selected RHP Brady Schanuel, making him the fifth Hawkeye selected overall and the third on Day 3 of the draft.

Although Schanuel came into the season pegged as the Big Ten’s seventh best draft prospect per Baseball America, he was never able to live up to that billing as a Hawkeye. A two-time All-American at Parkland College, Schanuel went 5-7 with a 5.94 ERA in 14 appearances (13 starts). While he racked up high strikeout numbers all year (65 total!), he also demonstrated a complete lack of command at times, walking 43 batters in 53 innings of work and finishing the season with a 1.
