OTHER STUFF IS GOING ON
While the Iowa fanbase was focused on the Iowa Football team going a perfect 12-0 the Iowa basketball team was focused on upsetting #17 Notre Dame. Unfortunately, Mike Brey and the Fighting Irish had a different narrative. Down 39-27 at half the Hawkeyes battled back under the leadership of Mike Gesell, who consistently kept Iowa in the game with his assists or jump shots.
Gesell, who had literally kept the Hawkeyes in the game until 7 minutes to go, could not spur the defense to shore up under the hoop, giving the Fighting Irish easy buckets to pull out, even when the Hawkeyes got close.
