Former Hawkeye Jermari Harris is another victim of NFL roster cuts

The NFL offseason provides each organization with the opportunity to thoroughly evaluate its roster, including recent draft picks, veterans, free agents, and new signings, in an effort to strengthen its team for the upcoming season.

Each organization has around 90 players on the roster during OTAs, training camp, and preseason games, but must reduce that number to 53 by August 26.

For over 1,000 players, that means being released or waived during roster cuts. It is a challenging time, as some players face the potential of never playing in the NFL again.

Veteran Los Angeles Rams Head Coach Sean McVay said the best way to approach difficult discussions with players is to strike a balance between the right tone and appreciation.
