Since the Iowa basketball season came to a close in April, much of the oxygen in Hawkeye nation has been sucked up by the coaching change in Carver. That makes quite a bit of sense when across the athletic department, coaches only change every few decades.
Add in the fact that new head coach Ben McCollum has put together an absurd resume of success between Northwest Missouri State and Drake and you have reason for optimism. That’s before you start looking at the roster turnover, which has been an outlier within college basketball for years, and realize Iowa landed one of the top portal players in the country with the addition of PG Bennett Stirtz.
