The Iowa defense has been solid over the first few weeks of the season, taking positive steps in each of Iowa's first five games.
Phil Parker and the Iowa defense held the high-powered Indiana offense to 20 points and under 350 yards of total offense. They also forced Hesiman hopeful Fernando Mendoza to throw his first interception this season.
Despite their early success, the defense still needs to improve overall, especially after missing 14 tackles last weekend against Indiana.
Parker acknowledged Iowa's struggles tackling, but also stated he is proud of the hard work the guys put in each week.
