Whitecaps complete Bolaños deal

Vancouver uses targeted allocation money to acquire the experienced Costa Rican international from Deportivo Saprissa.

VANCOUVER – In a widely expected move on Canada’s west coast, Vancouver Whitecaps FC completed the transfer of experienced midfielder Christian Bolaños from Costa Rican giant Deportivo Saprissa on Wednesday - pending receipt of his international transfer certificate and his Canadian work permit and visa.

The 31-year-old, who appeared in two World Cups with Costa Rica, signed a multi-year contract with the Blue and White and becomes the second new arrival to join Carl Robinson’s side this offseason following last month’s acquisition of Japanese striker Masato Kudo.
