Toronto holds slight advantage after draw with Montreal in Canadian Championship final opener

The MLS runner up will head to BMO Field for next week's second leg versus the Impact with a crucial away goal in hand

Toronto FC and the Montreal Impact drew 1-1 in Wednesday's first leg of the Canadian Championship final at Stade Saputo, giving TFC a slight advantage ahead of next week's deciding leg at BMO Field.

The Impact's Matteo Mancosu opened the scoring, nodding in a rebound after TFC goalkeeper Clint Irwin couldn't hold on to a long-distance Marco Donadel shot in the 19th minute. Toronto striker Jozy Altidore scored the equalizer just over 10 minutes later after receiving a pass from Raheem Edwards near the penalty spot.
