Sydney FC fall to Ulsan as hopes of Asian Champions League progression ended

Ulsan Hyundai have snuck past Sydney FC 1-0 to end the Sky Blues' hopes of Asian Champions League progression.

Needing at least a point to push for a place in the knockout stages, Steve Corica's side were allowed to start brightly in Ulsan with Paulo Retre rifling a good chance high and wide early for the visitors.

Top of Group H, Ulsan were content to sit back for much of the first half but did force Andrew Redmayne into a save in the 41st minute after they tried their luck for distance.

After the break, the hosts would take the lead after a fast counter saw Manchester City loanee Mix Diskerud backheel the ball home from close range in the 59th minute.
