Ronaldo to have Madeira's airport renamed after him in honour of Portugal's Euro 2016 win

The president of the Portuguese island, Miquel Albuquerque, has confirmed that the Real Madrid star will be honored after the nation's success in France this summer

An airport in Cristiano Ronaldo’s home city of Funchal will be renamed after the Real Madrid star.

The 31-year-old captained Portugal to glory at Euro 2016 earlier this summer and has already unveiled the Hotel Pestana CR7 in Funchal - the capital of Madeira.

But now the president of Madeira, Miquel Albuquerque, has confirmed that the former Manchester United forward will be honored after Portugal’s Euro 2016 success by having the city’s airport renamed as ‘Cristiano Ronaldo Airport ’.
