Premier League return date pushed back in wake of ongoing coronavirus outbreak

After previously targeting a May return, the Premier League announced on Friday that play will not resume by that date as matches remain suspended indefinitely.

The Premier League originally announced the suspension on March 13 following Arsenal's announcement that Mikel Arteta had tested positive for the illness.

In the weeks since, the outbreak has all but shut down many countries throughout the world, with football only still being played in a handful of leagues.

And that outbreak will keep the Premier League postponed until further notice as it has become clear that the initial May target would not be realistic.
