Schalke defender Joel Matip and Liverpool announced a pre-contract agreement between the two parties Monday.
The 24-year-old will join the Reds in the summer as a free agent on a four-year deal after rejecting new, improved terms with the Bundesliga outfit, which was looking to keep hold of him. Goal UK reported the impending announcement Monday morning.
Jurgen Klopp has long admired the center back, who has netted four goals in all competitions this season.
