The Colombian's relapse has left the interim Chelsea boss short of forward options and unwilling to part with Aston Villa target Loic Remy.
Guus Hiddink has confirmed Radamel Falcao is set for another spell in the treatment room, with the Premier League flop not expected to feature again for Chelsea until February.
Falcao moved to Stamford Bridge on loan from Monaco in the summer after completing a similar injury-plagued spell at Manchester United.
But the move has failed to take off for both club and player, with the striker only making one start in the league, netting once before picking up a thigh injury in November.
