Del Bosque: I notified the whole Spain squad of my departure, except for Casillas

The 65-year-old, who resigned as the national team boss following their Euro 2016 exit, says his relationship with the goalkeeper worsened after making David de Gea first choice

Vicente Del Bosque has revealed he sent a message to every member of his Euro 2016 squad to notify them he was resigning as Spain boss, except for Iker Casillas.

Del Bosque announced on Thursday he would be stepping down from his role as coach after seeing Spain bow out of the European Championship last-16 stage against Italy.

And the 65-year-old, who won the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012 in a seven-year spell as Spain boss, has since revealed Casillas was the only member of his squad he didn't make aware of his departure.
