Chiapas relegated from Liga MX despite victory over Atlas

Jaguares were able to get a victory on the final matchday of Liga MX, but Morelia's win in Monterrey meant it wasn't enough to save them

They say every point matters, and no team will be feeling that more sharply than Chiapas.

Jaguares defeated Atlas 1-0 Saturday, but with relegation rival Morelia also finding a shocking late goal to beat Monterrey, Jaguares will go down to the Ascenso MX, Mexico's second divison. Jaguares ended level with Veracruz on 117 ponts over the previous six tournaments but have a goal difference 10 goals worse than Veracruz.

An early goal on the half volley from Christian "El Hobbit" Bermudez had Jaguares' hopes up, but they were shaken when Morelia found a lead in Monterrey thanks to a 31st minute goal from Gaston Lezcano.
