EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Juan Bernat enjoyed the attacking role he played for Bayern Munich in Wednesday’s 1-0 friendly loss to Real Madrid, even if he doesn’t expect a reprise.
With Franck Ribery getting a rest, Bernat played on the left wing in front of left-back David Alaba. Alaba, a versatile player who also saw time at centre-back during the Bavarians’ pre-season tour of the U.S., had played in the advanced role with Bernat at left-back in one of the previous games.
