Arnold Peralta, Honduras National Soccer Team Player, Dies at Age 26

Arnold Peralta, a member of Honduras' national soccer team, was killed Thursday in his home country when he was shot in the parking lot of a shopping mall, according to the Associated Press.

Peralta's father, Carlos, reportedly confirmed his son's death in a news conference.

The 26-year-old midfielder had emerged as a staple of Honduras' efforts on the international stage over the past few years. In 2012, Peralta participated in the London Olympics as a member of Honduras' national team. However, he was unable to participate in the 2014 World Cup after suffering a thigh injury.
