Robert Mathis will have his playing time increased, as Colts struggle to get sacks

INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Colts linebacker Robert Mathis has been only a tease. He’s only played 106 snaps this season. But it definitely hasn’t been his fault. The Colts have kept Mathis on a “pitch count” after he missed last season with a torn Achilles.

The good news is Mathis is about to have an increase in playing time.

“Yeah, he’s going to get some more snaps,” Colts coach Chuck Pagano said.

The news of that coming comes at a perfect time because the Colts have struggled putting pressure on the quarterback this season. They gave linebacker Trent Cole, who has been starting in place of Mathis, a contract that averages $7 million a season.
