Here’s an unpopular opinion. The Indianapolis Colts' three young cornerbacks – Mekhi Blackmon, Johnathan Edwards, and Cameron Mitchell – did not play nearly as poorly against the San Francisco 49ers as their Pro Football Focus (subscription required) grades might suggest.
I want to stress that this doesn’t mean they played particularly well either. No one on the Colts defense played especially well last Monday night. The final score, 48 – 27, is a pretty clear indication of that.
But don’t go pinning too much of the blame on those corners.
Let’s be honest – these players were not supposed to be in this position.
