It's NFL cut day. And Colts make a surprise move

Colts Insider talks end of Colts preseason. Indianapolis Star

We have our first surprise from cut day.

According to his agent, the Indianapolis Colts have cut linebacker-turned-defensive end John Simon.

Among the Colts' earlier cuts Saturday include defensive linemen Rakeem Nunez-Roches, Chris McCain, Anthony Johnson and Brandon Banks, according to a league source.

This comes in addition to the team waive-injured safety T.J. Green on Friday, according to a league source. Green, a former second-round pick, hurt his hamstring in the third preseason game.

Neither Nunez-Roches, McCain, Johnson or Banks earned significant time with the Colts' first- or second-team during training camp or the preseason, and the defensive line remains one of the most competitive position groups on the team.
