Gambling addiction led to Art Schlichter's long stretches in prison

Former Indianapolis Colts and Ohio State quarterback Art Schlichter has been released from prison. A decades-long run of sentences that arose from a gambling addiction has ended.

What crimes did Art Schlichter commit?

In 1995, he was sentenced to two years in prison for passing bad checks. He was released in late 1996 but was soon arrested for stealing checks and was sentenced to eight years.

He was in prison at various points for all but about one year between 1995-2006.

He pled guilty in September 2011 to federal fraud charges related to a massive ticket scheme that bilked millions of dollars from his victims.
