INDIANAPOLIS — Bubba Ventrone called out a name in the Colts’ special teams meeting today, a name that made Frank Reich smile.
Rigoberto Sanchez.
Ventrone had a question for the Indianapolis punter, who is already back in the team facility, a little more than a week after undergoing surgery to remove a cancerous tumor from his body.
“Rigo, I’m really excited,” Reich said Friday. “Just having him be back in the building, he’s had a good week, making really good progress. Very optimistic, and very happy for Rigo.”
The Colts medical team and the other doctors surrounding Sanchez have been optimistic since the cancer was discovered, confident the disease hadn’t spread beyond the tumor they removed.
